Profile

For a number of years I have worked as an research assistant for PAKSTEM and have been involved in a number of research projects involving ICT, including an international project looking at computer supported collaborative learning in primary mathematics. I have also worked as a senior research assistant for the School of Early Childhood on projects including online mentoring, and the online learning and teaching environment.

I have completed a research pathway dissertation on developing group metacognition in a computer supported collaborative learning environment. I am currently in final stages of my PHD focusing on team metacognition during mathematical problem solving in a computer supported collaborative learning environment. I received an APA scholarship for my PhD study and my research has been presented at international conferences including ICCE and AARE.

Research

I am currently investigating how teams of students metacognate regarding their team work, and to build theory in order to develop theoretical models to facilitate team metacognition within Computer Supported Collaborative Learning (CSCL) environments.

For the last two years I have been involved in research on team metacognition with two classes of primary students from two different schools. The research involves the two classes forming online teams using the Knowledge Forum CSCL environment.
