Monday 14 July 2008 to Wednesday 16 July 2008

The Stepping Out Conference is an annual conference involving all the schools in the Faculty of Education. Final year/graduating students attend the conference which includes: keynote addresses, panels of school principals and recently graduated teachers, connecting workshops for reflection and discussion, a choice of breakout sessions and a plenary session to connect the three days and lead into the final semester.

The Stepping Out Conference is designed as a capstone experience, to provide the opportunity to reflect on your learning across your course of study as you near graduation and also to support your preparation for your transition from university to professional practice. You will engage with real life problems and experiences faced by practitioners.

The conference is centred around three major themes:

  • Continual professional development and Teacher Professional Standards
  • Legal imperatives: Ethics, the law and duty of care
  • Future issues: Anticipating challenges and opportunities

Cosponsored by:

  • Faculty of Education
  • The Commissioned Large T&L Grant: Real World Learning—Transitions Out to Professional Practice
