As part of QUT's overall initiative to remove barriers which prevent full participation in education, additional entry options are available to students whose education has been affected by social and/or economic factors. QUT understands that social and economic factors can affect or delay progression to tertiary study and also that applicants bring a diverse range of skills and experiences that do not always conform to specified prerequisite requirements for entry into tertiary study. Prospective students who do not meet standard enrolment criteria to enter the University's programs may be eligible under alternative entry programs. These programs include:
  • Oodgeroo Unit entry (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students). The Oodgeroo Unit provides a number of support services to Indigenous students once they are enrolled. For more information please visit: http://www.oodgeroo.qut.edu.au
  • Q-Step Program (for students from low socio-economic backgrounds). Q Step provides advice and enrolment support to prospective students from low socio-economic backgrounds. For more information please visit: http://www.studentservices.qut.edu.au/apply/special/qstep/
  • Mature-Age entry (for students not entering directly from high school, and on the basis of acknowledged work and life experiences).
